Maranta is an independent street bookstore that sells, in addition to books, flowers and foliage, especially orchids and marantas. It specializes in contemporary literature and works related to feminism, women, anti-racism, LGBTQIA+, indigenous and counter-colonial themes.

About Us
Maranta Bookstore is a welcoming space that believes that increasing the presence of books and plants in people's lives can make the world a better place. We seek to provide a unique shopping experience for books and plants with personalized consultations that seek to meet the needs of readers in dialogue with contemporary fictional and non-fictional writing, while also meeting the search for well-being provided by proximity to nature.
Why Maranta?
Marantas are known for the movement of their leaves, which position themselves vertically at dusk as if they were “in prayer,” which has led to them also being recognized as prayer plants. Thus, plants of this genus carry symbolism through this leaf movement, which for some may be associated with turning the page, change, and new beginnings. For us, the symbolism of marantas refers to introspection, reflection, and the suspension of the sometimes degrading and/or automated routine of work in the name of rethinking oneself and the world with the help of others through books.
